Economic independence has the power to transform lives, strengthen families, and build resilient communities. Weaving Lives is the women’s entrepreneurship and livelihood initiative of Vincentian Social Services, dedicated to enabling vulnerable women to become self-reliant through sustainable income-generating opportunities.

The programme gives special attention to women affected by poverty, social exclusion, and those living with or affected by HIV, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity, confidence, and hope.

From Skills to Sustainable Livelihoods

Weaving Lives equips women with practical vocational skills, entrepreneurial knowledge, and ongoing support to establish and sustain their own livelihoods. Rather than offering temporary assistance, the initiative empowers women to become financially independent and active contributors to their families and communities.

The programme includes:

• Skill Development: Training in tailoring, stitching, and other livelihood-oriented vocational skills.

• Livelihood Support: Distribution of sewing machines and other essential tools that enable women to start home-based enterprises.

• Employment Generation: Establishment of community-based livelihood units, including glove inspection units, creating regular income opportunities for unemployed women.

• Entrepreneurship Promotion: Mentoring, guidance, and market linkage support to help women grow sustainable micro-enterprises.

Beyond Income

For many women, Weaving Lives represents far more than employment. It restores self-confidence, strengthens decision-making, enhances social inclusion, and creates opportunities to build secure futures for their children. Every enterprise established through the programme is a step towards breaking the cycle of poverty and dependence.
