In the tea-growing belts of Chowdarigach and Nirvachandi in West Bengal, generations have been trapped in a cycle of poverty, child labor, and illiteracy.

Despite the Right to Education Act, school dropout rates remain heartbreakingly high. Deep-rooted challenges like poor infrastructure, alcoholism, and economic hardship mean many children work the plantations for a meager daily wage instead of holding a pencil. In these villages, most adults still rely on thumb impressions—a silent testament to generational exclusion from formal learning.

Sona Lipi (Golden Letters) is our answer to this crisis.

Launched by Vincentian Social Services, this transformative initiative provides a lifeline for children aged 6 to 15, turning the page from mere survival to true success.

• Mobilize Communities: Partner with families to re-enroll dropout children and champion consistent school attendance.
