Prevention Drive – HPV Vaccination for a Healthier Tomorrow
“Preventive healthcare is not a luxury—it’s a right, especially for the most vulnerable.”
At Vincentian Social Services, we are deeply committed to the health and dignity of marginalized populations. Our latest initiative, “Prevention Drive – Protecting Futures,” in partnership with KIMSHEALTH CSR, is a vital step in our ongoing mission to reduce health disparities and fight preventable diseases—especially cervical cancer, which continues to claim the lives of thousands of women in India each year.
Cervical cancer is both widespread and largely preventable, yet it remains one of the most common causes of cancer-related deaths among Indian women, particularly in low-income communities. Limited access to health services, lack of awareness, and social taboos often delay diagnosis and treatment—making prevention through education and vaccination not only effective but essential.
Through this project, we are focusing our efforts on adolescent children living with HIV (CLHIV) from across Kerala—groups that are especially vulnerable due to geographic, economic, and health-related challenges. The weakened immune systems of children living with HIV make them more susceptible to persistent HPV infections and, subsequently, cervical cancer. Young girls and women are not only receiving the HPV vaccine but are also being equipped with the knowledge they need to take charge of their reproductive health.
This project is a testament to our belief that health is a basic human right. It reflects our continued commitment to those on the margins—ensuring they are not left behind in the march toward better healthcare. With the support of our collaborators, volunteers, and community members, we are creating not just healthier individuals, but healthier communities.
